Nonnies Baked Meatballs

  This can be made using ground beef or venison. very good party dish- origional recipe used a small 8 ounce sauerkraut- i like to use 16 ounce can
Ingredients:
  2 pound   ground beef or venison
  1 cup   dry bread crumbs or cracker crumbs
  1 envelope   onion soup mix
  2   eggs
  1 bottle   chili sauce
  1 bottle   water (use chili sauce bottle)
  1/2 cup   brown sugar
  1 16oz can   sauerkraut (drained and rinsed)
  1 16oz can   whole cranberry sauce
Directions:
  Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine meat, cracker or bread crumbs, onion mix and eggs together. Mix well. Form into about 70- 1 inch meatballs. Place in baking pan in single layer. In a saucepan combine chili sauce, water, brown sugar, and cranberries. Stir over low until sugar dissolves. Stir in sauerkraut. Pour this mixture over meatballs and bake for 1 1/2 hours at 375. Place in crockpot if for a party after cooked to keep hot.
