Nonnies Baked Meatballs

This can be made using ground beef or venison. very good party dish- origional recipe used a small 8 ounce sauerkraut- i like to use 16 ounce can |
Ingredients: |

2 pound |
|
ground beef or venison |
|
1 cup |
|
dry bread crumbs or cracker crumbs |
|
1 envelope |
|
onion soup mix |
|
2 |
|
eggs |
|
1 bottle |
|
chili sauce |
|
1 bottle |
|
water (use chili sauce bottle) |
|
1/2 cup |
|
brown sugar |
|
1 16oz can |
|
sauerkraut (drained and rinsed) |
|
1 16oz can |
|
whole cranberry sauce |
Directions: |

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine meat, cracker or bread crumbs, onion mix and eggs together. Mix well. Form into about 70- 1 inch meatballs. Place in baking pan in single layer. In a saucepan combine chili sauce, water, brown sugar, and cranberries. Stir over low until sugar dissolves. Stir in sauerkraut. Pour this mixture over meatballs and bake for 1 1/2 hours at 375. Place in crockpot if for a party after cooked to keep hot.
